I have the same problem with 2 identical BD-J5100 players... they began an endless 8-sec reboot-loop around 7pm Mountain time last night, within minutes of each other.  No amount of power-off or reset fixes the problem.  Both now sit unplugged from power.

I bought the BD-J5100 for my dad a couple years back and today all of a sudden he started having problems so I looked at it and as the OP stated - the unit is power cycling constantly - sounds as if the disk is going to play but cant because of the power cycling - unit will not open tray to eject disk.

I'm not even going to bother posting a new thread about this because obviously this has been going on for years (other seachers found stuff going back to atleast 2017) and samsung either doesn't care or knows already that it would cost too much for them to ameleorate the situation. When I saw the posts from 2017 I had hopes there was a fix. Your post says 4 hours ago.....I say gl to us all.

You know what? I'm going to say this is designed obsolesence. Real shifty stuff here. I would bet that you can still find these bugged units on store shelves.

I agree. I've been a pretty loyal Samsung customer for over 10 years, but this has really turned me off. I'm now looking at other brands that I would not have considered until this happened.

When the first unit started giving me trouble I spent quite a bit of time with no luck in fixing it. Thinking my issue was only the unit I was working on, I ordered an on-line new replacement, due to arrive Sunday (tomorrow).

The ordered unit was NOT a Sumsung brand.

If the inoperative units have to get replaced, they will also not be a Samsung.

Same here. worked fine to watch netflix around 2200 GMT, June 18th. now around 0515 GMT on the 19th  it keeps cycing on and off. It was silent (and I assume off) until I tried to turn it on with the remote. then cha-chunk, cha-chunk, cha-chunk, ad-infinitum.

I don't even remember if there's a dvd in there, been a long time since I've watched one.

I have 2 Blu-ray players (samsung blu ray BD-j5700).  Both of them stopped working as same time after firmware (auto) update.

Our BD-J5700 also ‘acquired’ this infinite reboot bug at about 10:00ish last night. The loop is about 8 seconds long, the menu only comes up for the last two. The on-device buttons have stopped working, and the only button that seems to work on the remote is the ‘eject’ button. With these limitations neither a soft nor hard reset is possible. Unplugging overnight did not fix.

The loop continues both with and without a disc in the machine. When a disc is first loaded it delays the reboot by a bit.
