Unable to create custom stickers in Gallery

I'm having an issue creating stickers from the gallery.

In the past, we could long press to get a sticker selection and then manually edit that selection.

Now however, the ai selection makes it's selection, and we get no option to adjust that selection at all.

(For instance, I wanted just a head selection, but instead it selected the entire object with now option to crop or adjust it.)

Getting some videos posted on how these new tools can be used would be SO helpful, instead of only seeing 50,000 camera shootouts.

I found the too I just take a Pic of the object then use that for my sticker

@Shlick Try this:

1. Click on a photo 
2. Long press on the item that you want to make a sticker
3. When the menu pops up, click the 3 dots and select edit.
4. You will then have the ability to draw around to deselect part of the area or add to the area.

So I have this photo as an example

I could long press on the dog and get the menu to save as a sticker but I wont to simulate a photo where the message "nothig to select" appears or I dont want what was automatically selected.  So I then go into EDIT and select the 4 circle menu and then select LASSO and then SELECT SNAP TO SHAPE

I then draw roughly around the mat in the pic, hit next and then done and Save as a copy

So here's the mat

Now I can long press on the mat and when I release the press I get the menu where I can either Save as a sticker r use the 3dot menu and edit some more.

I've just noticed this as well! I used that feature a lot but now I can't select the objects I want! Why did they remove the custom shape button? Ugh

Thank you for your effort. I had hoped this option would work, but I'm choosing the entire picture to make it a sticker. Before the update I could simply click on the picture I wanted to 'paste' the sticker on. I could select another entire picture to become the sticker and when it was added, I could re-size it without losing resolution quality. 

With your solution, there are extra steps, and when I add the sticker to a picture and resize it the quality is significantly lower. This is a work around, but unfortunately not a solution.

Tap on the donor picture. Then, instead of the pencil, tap the three dot menu. Choose 'copy to keyboard'. Long press the recipient picture, and press paste. Now you have the full image in another picture. 

If I need a specific thing out of a picture now, I put the donor image into a separate image editor, erase the stuff i don't need, set the background to transparent, and repeat the first paragraph. More work, same result.

who knows! i been asking this question for "2 yrs" without any answers! i've also asked if there's any way to copy/paste full or select parts of pix (like on every other phone i had!), but still no answers!
