My note 20 ultra battery drains fast. Should I return the junk? My S10 plus has better battery life than this $1300 phone.

I just upgraded from the S20 Ultra and the battery life on it is awful.

Went from 20% out of the box to 0 in about 3 hours just installing and updating apps.  Same process on my S20 Ultra 3 months ago and it took well over 6 hours to drain.

VERY DISAPPOINTED!!!

I too am disappointed with the battery life on this phone. I've had the note 4, note 8, note 9 and note 10+, all of which had better battery life. I've also tried the battery saving tricks with very limited success. I see several people mentioning "be patient to let the phone learn your usage patterns". Its been about 4 or 5 months and im still experiencing abnormal battery drainage.

I just got mine 4 days ago, and the reason why I bought is because my Note 5 has battery issue. Now, both have no difference. I am a heavy user and had Note 3 and Note 9, I never had such bad experience on the battery. I bought it for the same reason - 4300 mah according to the specs. But it's like 2k mah!

So far, I haven't found any solution.

I wouldn't have to charge my phone for two or three days...until yesterday. Now I all of the sudden have to charge it twice a day!! I didn't even touch it for an hour and a half and it went down 18%!!! After work I was at 50% and I am only at work for 6 hours, during which I rarely even check my phone.

Hello, Welcome to the Community. We understand the concern of the battery draining quickly and the phone overheating.

Some things that can help with Battery optimization, if you're just having a battery draining issue, is the following:

Note: The battery adaptive feature may cause the battery to drain a little faster at first until the phone adapts to your usage, and learns how you're operating, the charge will be stored and used in different manners based on how you use your phone. This sometimes can take a few weeks for it to learn the habits and customize itself to make sure you have the best performance and lasting battery.

Optimize Apps:https://www.samsung.com/us/support/galaxy-battery/optimization/

Be sure the Personal Data Intelligence app (and all apps) is fully updated.

We also recommend clearing the cache partition. To get to recovery mode:
- Turn off phone
- Once off, hold down volume up and power buttons simultaneously
- When Samsung logo appears, release power button BUT KEEP HOLDING VOLUME UP until the recovery menu appears
- Use volume buttons to navigate down to clear cache (NOT CLEAR DATA/ FACTORY RESET)
- Use power button to select.

We also recommend submitting an error report to provide the information to Samsung. https://us.community.samsung.com/t5/Tips-Tricks/How-to-Submit-an-Error-Report/ba-p/3001692

If you've tried troubleshooting above, when it comes to exorbitant drain to the battery, repairs would be recommended. You can use the following link to find a list of service centers in the U.S. that can do the repair: http://www.samsung.com/us/support/service/location or by contacting customer support at 1-800-726-7864.
